We’ve all heard the saying that knowledge is power. But at the end of the day, knowing yourself is the most powerful asset there is. It sounds straightforward, right? But there's more to this story.
It’s easy to know our weaknesses – the negative ego or critical mind has a great time with that! But knowing our strengths is often way more challenging for people to grapple with. Have you ever had someone give you a compliment and you had to minimize it, saying how lucky you’ve been, or I have a great team…Next time, just say thank you! Take it in, even if it’s uncomfortable. It’s not that your life will change of someone gives you a compliment - the point is, it’s often hard to acknowledge your strengths.
What does help is getting some insights to help you know what they are. Recently I spoke with Daniela Hreniuc, of TalentToday, about this very thing.
We talked about personality quizzes ad how they can reveal aspects of you, aka strengths that you never knew you had.
Wouldn’t it be great to be aware of your talents, so you can use them to work towards your living your best, most fulfilling ad meaningful life? Self-awareness is a game-changer. I’m always looking for resources to share with you, and this is one of them. You can learn more about how your unique personality can lead you to greater growth. You can discover your strengths and activate them in new ways. If you are curious about these aspects, you can take the free assessment here :)
Another fun activity is to do is the VIA Survey of Character Strengths from UPENN. See if you are surprised.
Enjoy the exploration, and let me know what you discover. It’s time to inhabit who you really are, to stop playing small, and to be the light that you are meant to be, in a world that needs you more than you realize.
